The Shawano County Board is expected to approve hiring another new zoning administrator when supervisors gather May 28. Members of the county executive committee approved hiring Kyle Waelchli when they met May 21 and forwarded the recommendation on to the full board. The position has been vacant since March when Kimberly Gierach resigned. Gierach had only been on board seven months.

Members of the Shawano County Executive Committee recommended hiring Nichole Zuehl as the county’s new finance director, a move expected to be approved by the full county board when it meets May 28. The position became vacant May 2 with the resignation of Carrie Buntjer. Several pieces of property recently acquired by Shawano County will be sold through sealed bids. The properties were seized by the county after more than four years of delinquent taxes went unpaid. County Treasurer Debra Wallace said the properties were taken through a court process known as “in rem” and is regulated by state law. “After four years of not having taxes paid on the property, the county begins this in rem process,” she said.

• Joanna F. Cordts, 29, Shawano, pleaded no contest May 21 to possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an illegally obtained prescription, all misdemeanors. Felony counts were dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and forfeitures of $1,888.25. • Samuel B. Bullock, 49, Bonduel, pleaded no contest May 21 to misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

Thirty-three Gillett High School seniors said goodbye to their alma mater and hello to the next phase of their lives. Those students included Zander Davis and Scott Heroux, the Class of 2025’s valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, who addressed a full gym May 25 at the school’s annual graduation ceremony. “High school isn’t just about academics,” Davis said. “A lot of it was us just figuring things out.
