Navarino Wildlife Area is part of the Lower Wolf River Bottomlands Natural Resources Area and can be found in southern Shawano and northeast Waupaca counties. The property includes more than 15,000 acres of state-owned land and the largest parcel within the Lower Wolf River Bottomlands Natural Resources Area.

I could barely sleep last night. I kept thinking about the big buck Dad saw on the trail cam last week. My alarm went off way too early, but I didn’t even care — I was already wide awake. I threw on my warmest gear, grabbed my backpack and tiptoed out the door like a ninja so I wouldn’t wake my little sister.

Peshtigo Brook Wildlife Area is a 2,373-acre property in Oconto County, with about two-thirds of the property making up the Peshtigo Brook Meadow and Woods State Natural Area.

This area has extensive, unique native sedge meadows interspersed with dry oak, pine and aspen forests. It provides excellent remote hunting, trapping and wildlife-viewing recreation.

In a league that also includes perennial playoff teams Stratford, Amherst, Colby and Wittenberg-Birnamwood, the Weyauwega-Fremont football team was looking to make some noise in its Central Wisconsin-Large Conference opener.

The Warhawks made plenty of noise at the expense of Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Sept. 4 by scoring on four of its first five possessions in a 35-6 win over the Chargers in Weyauwega.

If the Packerland Conference is going to be like the opener, fans of the Bonduel and Oconto Falls football teams can count on a successful season.

Bonduel handed Kewaunee a 28-22 loss Sept. 4 in the conference opener for both teams, while the Panthers opened Packerland play with a 26-7 home win over Oconto in the Battle of Highway 22 game.
