The Shawano County Board is expected to approve hiring another new zoning administrator when supervisors gather May 28.
Members of the county executive committee approved hiring Kyle Waelchli when they met May 21 and forwarded the recommendation on to the full board.
The position has been vacant since March when Kimberly Gierach resigned. Gierach had only been on board seven months. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is now the planning services manager for the city of Oshkosh.
When Gierach was hired in the fall, she replaced Jessica Van Buren.
Personnel issues arose in the planning department in the spring and summer of 2024, leading to the first change in leadership.
Waelchli earned a bachelor of arts degree from UW-Green Bay with a major in urban and regional studies, an emphasis in environmental design and double minors in geography and political science.
Waelchli has more than 15 years of related experience in a variety of private and public sector positions, such as urban planning, director of facilities and maintenance, and land use enforcement. Most recently, he was Shawano County’s land enforcement coordinator/associate planner.
He will be paid $86,507.20 per year.
