USDA seeks feedback from ag producers
Over the next several weeks, U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will conduct two major mid-year surveys, the June Agricultural Survey and the June Area Survey. The agency will contact nearly 4,400 producers across Wisconsin to determine crop acreage and stock levels as of June 1.
Average Wisconsin cow produces 2,205 pounds of milk per month
Milk production in Wisconsin during May 2024 totaled 2.81 billion pounds, up 1% from the previous Ma, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Milk Production report. The average number of milk cows during May, at 1.27 million head, was unchanged from last month but up 2,000 from May 2023.

Wisconsin had 2.3 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending June 23, 2024, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Heavy rainfall occurred throughout the state, making it challenging for farmers to complete field activities.

Denise L. Anderson, 60, of Suring, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Denise was born on May 29, 1964, to Dennis and Sandra (Fuller) Lederer in Milwaukee. She graduated from Arrowhead High School in Hartland. Denise worked at Flynn’s Convenience Store for 17 years. Denise loved children and worked as a child care provider for 25 years. On Sept. 6, 1997, Denise married Steven Anderson at Maple Valley Campground.
De Pere man wanted for attempted homicide
Law enforcement is looking for a De Pere man wanted for attempted homicide and other charges stemming from an incident May 24 in Shawano. Jordan K. Feemster, 31, was charged June 11 with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless endangering safety, and misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property. Feemster was not taken into custody, and Shawano-Menominee Circuit Court Judge William Kussel Jr.
Oconto charges dropped against convicted killer
Oconto County has chosen not to pursue further charges against a Green Bay man found guilty March 11 of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide. Richard Sotka, 49, was out on bail from an Oconto County stalking case when he stabbed Rhonda Cegelski, 53, and Paula O’Connor, 58, to death on Jan. 29, 2023.
Dairyland League: Cecil tops Marinette in home game
June 23 Cecil 10, Marinette 2 The Cecil Mudhens won 10-2 in a home game against visiting Marinette. Marinette opened the scoring with the help of two walks, a pair of wild pitches and a single by Keagon Monroe that put Marinette on the board in the top of the first. Cecil answered in the bottom of the first after Cole Anderson walked, Ken Casper reached on an error with two outs and Noah Beilfuss singled, scoring two runs.
