Since 2021, the Salvation Army of Shawano County has been providing backpacks with school supplies to children in need. Last year, more than 190 backpacks were given out to families at local schools. Due to funding shortages, the Shawano County Salvation Army Service Unit is currently in need of cash donations to purchase school supplies and backpacks for the 2024-25 school year.

Suzanne M. Miller, 82, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Suzanne was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Shawano, a daughter of the late Melvin and Florence (Martzke) Hoffman. She attended the Shawano schools, graduating with the class of 1960. Following high school, she moved to Illinois and worked at an insurance company. In 1961, she married Richard Koeller, and together they had two children, Mike and Greg Koeller.

Shawano School Board members favored remodeling space for a weight room as opposed to a building addition at the high school and opted to continue to push for a permanent orchestra pit in a remodeled performing arts center.
