Diane R. Kast, 72, of Shawano, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, Dec. 28, 2013, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Diane was born July 19, 1941, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Daniel G. and Ruth (Steffen) Meyer. She attended school in Milwaukee. Shawano resident Terri Dallas, vice president of information and public relations for Cooperative Resources International, was honored as the 2014 Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at an awards banquet April 24. Dorothy S. Timm-Ringel, 94, formerly of the town of Herman, Shawano County, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 9, 2014, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano. Dorothy had been a resident at Evergreen for the past 16 days. The former Dorothy Huebner was born on Nov. 1, 1919, in the town of Herman, a daughter of the late Albert and Elsa (Salzmann) Huebner.

My calendar is confusing to me. Oh, I know it is May and usually can figure out what day of the week it is. However, each day on the calendar is written with some sort of code by me, which lets me know where I am supposed to be and at what time.

As the years go by, more and more memories of Mom come to mind. She’s been in heaven now for five years. On the anniversary of her and Dad’s passing from this life into the place Jesus had prepared for them, I text my siblings, “One day as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day!” (2 Peter 2:8). Just the other day, I found myself breaking down, standing in the middle of my kitchen, sobbing because I missed Mom.
