Dorothy S. Timm-Ringel

Dorothy S. Timm-Ringel, 94, formerly of the town of Herman, Shawano County, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 9, 2014, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano. Dorothy had been a resident at Evergreen for the past 16 days. The former Dorothy Huebner was born on Nov. 1, 1919, in the town of Herman, a daughter of the late Albert and Elsa (Salzmann) Huebner. She attended country schools until the eighth grade and then went to work as a nanny. Dorothy was later employed at the Murdock Hotel in Shawano. On May 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Edward Timm at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the town of Herman. Mr. Timm preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1980. Dorothy later married Russell Ringel on April 30, 1988, in Lampson. The couple stayed in the town of Herman after their marriage. Russell preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2000. Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She worked as the church custodian for over 45 years, a job that she enjoyed immensely. She also enjoyed gardening, cutting her own large lawn until the age of 90, and baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and friends. She was also active in other church activities, including serving with the Ladies Aid, and singing in the choir. Dorothy is survived by her children, Ron (Nancy) Timm, of Albert Lea, Minn., Gerald (Terrie) Timm, of Shawano, and Betty (David) Laatsch, of Tigerton; 12 grandchildren, Steve (Julie) Timm , John (Toni) Timm, Julie Timm, Kelly (Joe) Irwin, Allen (Cathy) Timm, Mike (Angie) Timm, Scott (Michelle) Timm, Doug (Amy) Laatsch, Phillip (Cheryl) Laatsch, Luke (Missy) Laatsch, Adam Laatsch and Jessica (Kevin) Resch; 23 great-grandchildren and another expected in August. Dorothy is also survived by five stepchildren and several stepgrandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Mabel Nordwig, of Leopolis; a sister in-law, Marge Rindel; many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean (Bob) Hertig and Alice (Eli) Schilling, and two brothers, Robert (Betty) Huebner and Ralph Huebner. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, May 12, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hermansfort. Pastor Roland Golz and Vicar Steve Conradt will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials in the name of Dorothy Timm-Ringel for St. John’s Technology Fund.
