School districts in Shawano and Oconto counties have met the education standards set by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, according to the 2023 report cards released in mid-November. Most area schools received a three-star rating, which shows the school has met the threshold for what DPI believes students should know to graduate high school.

“Discover Wisconsin,” the nation’s longest-running travel and tourism TV series, and longtime partner Ho-Chunk Nation have won an Emmy Award at the 65th Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards. Under the category for Outstanding Achievement for Arts/Entertainment Short Form Content, the partners were recognized for their digital short. In the video, “Discover Wisconsin” features Ho-Chunk native artist Truman Lowe and some of his most significant works.

Hannah Soletske, of Suring, helped save lives by hosting an American Red Cross blood drive and earned a $1,000 scholarship as a result of her lifesaving efforts. As part of the Red Cross Leaders Save Lives program, the Coleman High School student hosted a blood drive at her school on June 7, which collected 33 blood donations. As a result, Soletske was eligible to be entered into a drawing for a scholarship and was chosen as a winner.

Farms make difficult, financially important decisions every day. All of these critical decisions will be discussed at a free workshop being held Dec.

A case involving a Wittenberg woman accused of pointing a firearm at a group of children in May is still unresolved after a hearing Nov. 21 in Branch 2 at the Shawano County Courthouse. Defense attorney Joseph Kaupie told Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court Judge William Kussel Jr. that he and the district attorney’s office needed additional time to discuss any potential agreements.
