Mark R. Dobratz

Mark R. Dobratz, 68, of West Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Essentia Hospital surrounded by family. Mark was born on Feb. 13, 1955, in Shawano to the late Eugene and Arlene (Finke) Dobratz. Mark graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering and later received his MBA from University of Mary. Mark was united in marriage to Joan Osterloh on June 23, 1979 in Hecla, South Dakota.

Kelly brings versatility to field
The Green Bay Packers claimed cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 15. Kelly (6-0, 191), a rookie out of Stanford, was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He was released after training camp and claimed off waivers by Seattle.

Oconto Falls passes 2024 city budget
The Oconto Falls City Council finalized its 2024 city budget Nov. 27, with several street projects dependent on whether state grants come through to support the work. The city is looking to spend about $3.3 million in the coming year, with $1.5 million raised by local property taxes.
Survey: Community supports $70M max referendum
Recent results from a survey sent out to Shawano School District residents show the maximum amount of referendum money they’d support is around $70 million, which is putting district officials into an interesting situation. The anticipated cost of building a new middle school adjacent to Olga Brener Intermediate School is $53.7 million, including the demolition of the existing Shawano Community Middle School.
