The Packers have made an uninspiring run into the playoffs. They’ve finished the regular season with two straight losses and agonizingly familiar problems with the ball. After weeks of searching for answers, maybe the postseason can jump-start Green Bay’s once vaunted offense. Really, they don’t have much of a choice anymore.

BOYS BASKETBALL Shawano 53 Seymour 51 Cole Nelson’s 3-pointer toward the end of regulation pushed the Hawks and Thunder to an overtime period, where Shawano hit 5 of 7 free throws to close out the Bay Conference battle Tuesday night. Senior Zeke Gueths hit three free throws and the Hawks’ only field goal in overtime en route to his game-high 25 points.

The Shawano/Bonduel high school hockey team was looking to bounce back Tuesday night from an extended losing streak. The Ashwaubenon Jaguars weren’t about to let that happen, taking control in the second period for a 4-1 victory at the Crawford Center in Shawano. Shawano/Bonduel outshot the Jaguars 13-10 in the first period, but Ashwaubenon took a 1-0 lead on a Jake LaVallie goal with 5:30 remaining.

A Shawano man who allegedly fired a rifle at a group of people during an exchange of gunfire in the city Monday night is in custody, while authorities continue to investigate whether charges should be filed against others involved. Police say a 23-year-old man drove past several people standing on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 600 block of East Richmond Street about 10 p.m.

Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will hold open auditions for its next musical, “Shrek The Musical.” Auditions are scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, and Thursday, Jan.

The Oconto Falls Lions on Dec. 30 opened the tubing hill located near River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls. Usual hours of operation will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays when snow conditions are good. The hill opened midweek last week to cater to the kids on Christmas break. The hill will be closed if either wind chills or temperatures are at or below zero. There’s no charge to use the hill, but donations are appreciated.

Sharon Rosenlund, 78, Oconto Falls, formerly of Gillett and Silver Cliff, died Sunday morning, Jan. 3, 2016, with family present at Sharpe Care, following a five-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on Dec. 20, 1937, in West Allis to Norbert and Leone (Kroening) Niber. On June 30, 1994, she married Gerhard “Rosy” Rosenlund in Silver Cliff.

Lena T. Gorski, 87, of Suring, passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016. She was born in Illinois on Dec. 27, 1928. She lived in Milwaukee and then moved to the Suring area. Lena is survived by her son, Ron, of Suring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter. Visitation will be held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, from 12 p.m.
