Last-second shot drops Lena at holiday tourney

Trailing by 6 points with five minutes left, the Lena High School boys basketball team made a furious comeback to pull even with 23 seconds remaining. A technical foul with nine seconds remaining sent Lena junior Connor Heise to the free-throw line with the game deadlocked, 65-65. Shawano man in custody after shooting incident
A Shawano man is in custody after allegedly firing a rifle at a group of people in the city Monday night. Police say a 23-year-old man drove past several people standing on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 600 block of East Richmond Street about 10 p.m.

Vikings take NFC North
A smiling Adrian Peterson held the football high in the air as if he had just won a trophy. The Minnesota Vikings are back atop the NFC North. Peterson ran for a touchdown, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn returned a fumble 55 yards for a score and the Vikings claimed their first division title since 2009 with a 20-13 victory Sunday night over the Green Bay Packers. James Zhuckkahosee Jr.
James “Bozo” Zhuckkahosee Jr. (Misquinachia – Bloody Hands) started his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday evening, Jan. 3, 2016, at his home in Green Bay. James was born on Jan. 7, 1943, in Concho, Oklahoma, a son of the late James and Matilda (Waupoose) Zhuckkahosee. He moved to Crow Settlement with his family at the age of 10. James proudly served his country as a United States Marines during the Vietnam Era.

Richard A. Menge
Richard “Stubby” Menge, 57, of Tigerton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Richard Allen Menge was born on July 5, 1958, in Tigerton to Alfred and Mildred (Roth) Menge. He attended Tigerton schools and as a young man started working in the logging industry. In his earlier years, Stubby drove log truck for his brother, Jim, for a short time.
