City, DOT to meet over Airport Drive proposal
City of Shawano officials will sit down with representatives of the Department of Transportation next month in hopes of talking the agency out of a proposal to reduce Airport Drive to one lane. Airport Drive also serves as state Highway 47-55, and the DOT has plans to resurface it next year between County Road BE and Green Bay Street. Soil borings on Main Street to start soon
The city of Shawano is hoping to start boring into the soil on Main Street within the next few weeks to determine just how serious the problem is that led to several water main breaks over the last four years. The Shawano Municipal Utilities Commission on Monday voted to stick with BMO Harris, formerly M&I Bank, in Shawano for another five years. Selma E. Buettner
Selma E. Buettner, 95, of Gresham, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. Born on June 26, 1918, in Embarrass, she was the daughter of the late William and Louise (Koeller) Hildebrandt. On March 31, 1939, Selma was united in marriage to Clifford Buettner. The couple made their home and raised their family in the Gresham area. Selma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Gresham, where she was active with the Ladies Aid.
Clyde Jon Schmidt
Clyde Jon Schmidt, 81, of Gresham, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at a local nursing home. Born on May 16, 1932, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret (Hartel) Schmidt. Clyde grew up in the Gresham area and attended Roosevelt Grade School. In 1949, he graduated from Gresham High School. On May 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Marjorie L. “Margie” Ringel at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham.
Nelda Lu Jacobs
Nelda Lu Jacobs, 69, of Bowler, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, in Green Bay. Born on Aug. 16, 1944, in Sturgeon Bay, she was the daughter of Gretta (Tousey) Jacobs and the late Howard Jacobs. Nelda worked as a cashier for the Little Star Retail Store. When not working at the store, Nelda loved being with children. She drove bus for the church kids, volunteered at The Family Center for Kids and helped with the Head Start program.
Jeanette M. Miller
Jeanette M. Miller passed away early Sunday morning, April 27, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette began a vibrant and full life on March 21, 1931, in Shawano, a daughter of the late George “Jake” and Urith (Schweers) Frank. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Wausau in 1952 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., in 1979. Jeanette married Jerome “Jerry” W.
Gerald "Jerry" Rosnow
Surrounded by his loving family, Jerry Rosnow, 91, of Shawano, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Born April 9, 1923, in Clintonville, he was the son of the late Arthur and Dolores Rosnow. Jerry graduated from Shawano High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jerry was united in marriage on June 10, 1950, to Guinevere (Gwen) Rosnow, who preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2012.
Roger R. Lemberg
Roger Ray Lemberg, 67, of the town of Wescott, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, in Green Bay. Born on July 30, 1946, in the town of Hartland, he was the son of the late Leonard and Viola (Hoefs) Lemberg. Roger grew up in the Bonduel area and graduated from Bonduel High School. After graduating he enlisted with the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War for more than six years.
