Jeanette M. Miller passed away early Sunday morning, April 27, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jeanette began a vibrant and full life on March 21, 1931, in Shawano, a daughter of the late George “Jake” and Urith (Schweers) Frank. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Wausau in 1952 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from St. Francis in Joliet, Ill., in 1979.
Jeanette married Jerome “Jerry” W. Miller on Oct. 17, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. They lived and worked in Aurora, Colo., while Jerry was in the armed forces. Together they raised four sons.
In 1958, they moved to Kohler, where Jeanette was active in the Kohler Women’s Club and St. John’s Altar Society. She was a Cub and Webelo Scout leader, her sons’ and grandsons’ biggest fan at all of their sporting events and at her granddaughter’s ballets and dance recitals.
She worked as a registered nurse at St. Nicholas Hospital on the Medical-Surgical Unit, Recovery and Operating Room before retiring as the supervisor of surgery and the emergency department in 1987. Since her retirement, she was active in the 220 Ladies Golf Club, Plymouth Women’s Civic Society and as a volunteer for St. Nicholas Hospice.
Her husband, Jerome, “Jerry,” preceded her in death on March 1, 2011.
Jeanette enjoyed golf, family reunions, traveling with friends, playing bridge, cribbage, sheepshead, and fellowship with everyone she came in touch with. She loved to laugh and have fun! Her heart was full of joy watching her family grow and spread their wings.
She is survived by two sons, William “Bill” (Cheryl) Miller, of Corona, Calif., and David (Kathy) Miller, of Cascade; daughter-in-law, Vicki Miller of McHenry, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Kara (Brian) Gill, of Middleton, Kurt Miller, of Sheboygan, Andrew Miller, of McHenry, Ill., Taylor Miller, of Corona, Calif., Brennan Newman, of Bethany, Okla., Ashley (Derek) Beyler, of Corona, Calif., and Gage, Chase and Lexi Miller, of McHenry, Ill.; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylie Anne, Aiden, Emersyn and Hudson Beyler, all of Corona, Calif., Sunny Sadler, of Bethany, Okla., Adalie Wathen, of McHenry, Ill., and Charles “Charlie” and Tanner Gill, of Middleton; sister-in-law: Virginia Magalska of New London; and brothers-in-law, John “Buddy” Miller, of Stevens Point, and Norbert “Nubbs” (Delores) Miller, of Stevens Point. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Daniel “Danny” and James “Jim”; daughter-in-law, Daryl Miller; parents, George “Jake” and Urith (Schweers) Frank; stepmother, Dorothy (Idhe) Frank; brother-in-law, Ken Magalska; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Newell, Audrey (Dennis) Berg and Patricia Miller.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 3, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. The Rev. Dan Volkert, pastor of the church, will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
Friends may call at the Resurrection Chapel at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for the Kohler High School Alumni Fund or St. Nicholas Hospital Home Health Hospice program.
