Robert K. Schmidt, 94, New London, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013. Bob was born on Aug. 22, 1919, in New London, son of the late William and Lillian (Krause) Schmidt. On March 9, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Coller, who preceded him in death in 1997. Bob graduated from New London Washington High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after.

Escape An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a Keshena man who went missing from the Huber work release facility for the second time in a month. Ramon F. Wahsquonaikezhik, 25, disappeared Oct. 26 after failing to return from his employment, according to the criminal complaint. Wahsquonaikezhik previously walked away from the Huber facility on Aug. 5, according to court records. He pleaded no contest to a felony charge of escape on Oct.

Shawano County authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating a town of Wescott man who has not been heard from since July. Paul Hudson, 42, was last seen on July 9 by a family member walking in the vicinity of the Loon Lake boat landing. The family reported Hudson as missing to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department on Oct.

Opponents and backers of a new Kenosha casino are making their case as Gov.

A Menominee Reservation parent is demanding that the Menominee Indian School Board take immediate action to more adequately address bullying in the school district. Tonja Wilber presented the board Monday with petitions containing 275 signatures from people wanting the district to better enforce consequences for bullying in the school district.

Menominee Indian High School officials cancelled homecoming for 2013, which caught the Menominee Indian School Board — and the community — off guard. Administrators were asked by board members Monday for an explanation of why they opted to eliminate the annual fall event without at least informing the board.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold an open house Nov. 14 to discuss the proposed reconstruction of state Highway 22 between 10th Street and Green Tree Road. The meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Clintonville Community Center, 30 S. Main St. It will begin with a brief presentation by representatives from the DOT at 5 p.m.
