Canada discovers Doc's

Steve “Doc” Hopkins, owner of Doc’s Harley-Davidson of Shawano County, is already well-known for his burgeoning business and special bikes. His reputation will grow worldwide when a documentary by Discovery Channel Canada hits the air. A Discovery Channel crew was filming at Doc’s, on state Highway 29 east of Bonduel, on Wednesday. “I just love listening to Doc,” said documentary producer Ben Schaub, who is from Toronto.

Nutrition analysis helps restaurant patrons Eatsmart
Angie’s Main Cafè/Daily Grind, at 130 S. Main St. in Shawano, is the city’s first locally owned restaurant to participate in Eatsmart, a communitywide initiative highlighting menu items that get a mark of approval from local health professionals. A coalition of health agencies and county health departments came together in 2011 to develop Eatsmart. The program provides free recipe analysis and advice to local restaurateurs.

Florence Emma Buelow, 93, of Bonduel, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. Born on Dec. 18, 1919, in the town of Hartland, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Minnie (Ehlers) Boerst. On July 23, 1938, she married Edwin Knueppel at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Shawano Police Department Oct. 31 Police logged 25 incidents, including the following: Sex Assault — A male subject was taken into custody as a result of a joint investigation with the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department into alleged sex assaults in the city. The investigation started Oct. 24 and included four separate complaints. Police said there were multiple victims, all of them children.
