‘One dream’ ends in state semis
The last match for the Oconto Falls High School volleyball team’s seniors and their coach rushed by as undefeated East Troy swept the Panthers 3-0 in the WIAA Division 2 state semifinal Friday at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Dawn Larsen, who is giving up her OFHS coaching duties after the spring softball season, said she was not sad after falling to the eventual state champion. “I’m not sad about it being my last season,” Larsen said.

Bay, M&O conferences honor top players
Oconto Falls High School volleyball player McKenna Larsen was named the Bay Conference player of the year to lead the all-conference award winners this year in the Bay and Marinette & Oconto conferences. Store aims for $10K donation to SAFPARC
The Shawano Area Food Pantry and Resource Center (SAFPARC) got a shot in the arm from a Midwest grocery chain to help kick off the holiday season. The Roundy’s Foundation gave a $3,000 check Friday morning to SAFPARC for use in purchasing food to help its clients in Shawano County.

Bonduel school tax levy down
Taxpayers in the Bonduel School District got a little good news this week. Property owners in the district can expect to pay a bit less in school taxes than had been expected when voters approved the tax levy in August; though it will still be more than they paid last year. The Stockbridge-Munsee Community officially swore six recently elected Tribal Council members into office during an inauguration ceremony on Oct. 21 at the tribal office. The Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council consists of a seven-member body which is vital to the tribe’s success and future.

Lighthouse patio case could be appealed
The Shawano County Board of Adjustment will meet with its legal counsel next week for the first time since a circuit court judge reversed the board’s decision on an after-the-fact variance for a concrete patio at the Lighthouse Pub in Wescott.
