Karen Marie Townsend, 52, of Abrams, passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2013. She was born in Oconto Falls on May 21, 1961, daughter of Dr.

Sharon M. Schricker, 68, of Green Bay, was born into eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013. She was born on Dec. 27, 1944, in Spokane, Wash., daughter of the late Fred and Viola (Hardtke) Bartels. On Aug. 16, 1969, Sharon was united in marriage to John Schricker at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Green Bay. Sharon was an avid Packers’ fan and was thrilled after over 30 years on the waiting list to receive season tickets.

Sandra “Sandy” M. Boswell, 69, Green Bay, formerly of Oconto Falls, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7, 2013. She was born on April 5, 1944, in Green Bay to the late Leo and Frances (Paape) Kading. Sandy was a graduate of Green Bay West High School. In October 1983 she married David Boswell; he preceded her in death on Feb.

Allan Matthew Stranz Jr. passed away Nov. 4, 2013, at the Bellin Hospital-Oconto. Allan was born July 4, 1930, in Beech Grove, Marion County, Ind., to Allan Matthew and Mary Leota (Thrine) Stranz. He attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic School in Indianapolis and then moved with his parents to Crandon in 1943 and graduated from Crandon High School in 1948.

Russell Wayne Fetterly, 80, Oconto, passed away with his family at his side in Concrete, Wash. He was born May 26, 1933, in Oconto Falls, to Harry and Hazel (Eastman) Fetterly. He worked his whole life as a dairy farmer, beginning while still in high school, except for his time served in the U.S. Army. In 1965, he received the Outstanding Farmer Award from the Oconto Jaycees.

One of my all-time favorite sit-com characters was a guy named Mr. Herd on the old “Bob Newhart Show.” Oliver Clark played Mr. Herd in just eight episodes of the show, but I always loved him. Do you remember him? He was the very shy, self-deprecating guy whose tie was always upside down. In one episode he told of how he’d taken a job selling door-to-door.

Before those living along the path around the Falls had access to a multitude of sports channels, “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat,” clued viewers that ABC’s “Wide World of Sports” was about to start. The series featured a great variety of venues and the emotions that played out on each.

Ally Magnin of the Oconto Falls FFA competed against the best in the nation in the FFA creed-speaking contest and came away with a bronze emblem. Magnin was one of 48 students to compete in the Creed Speaking Career Development Event at the national FFA convention Oct. 31 in Louisville, Ky.

The Lena High School National Honor Society inducted its newest members on Nov.5. The guest speaker was Clint Wos, a graduate of Lena High School who is employed as manager of accounting and reporting at TDS Inc., a Fortune 500 telecommunications company in Madison. Wos talked to the group about his journey from being a Lena farm boy to where he is now.
