The Stockbridge-Munsee Community officially swore six recently elected Tribal Council members into office during an inauguration ceremony on Oct. 21 at the tribal office.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council consists of a seven-member body which is vital to the tribe’s success and future. All of those seats were up for election, with four incumbents returning.
Tribal Council officials sworn in included President Wallace Miller, Vice President Gregory Miller, Treasurer Terrie Terrio, and Council Members Shannon Holsey, Joe Miller and William Miller.
A tie for the final Tribal Council seat will be decided in a run-off election scheduled for Nov. 16 between candidates Rene Montez and Jeremy Mohawk.
“I have renewed optimism and faith that this council will bring our people back into a relationship of unity, putting confidence back into the tribe.” Wallace Miller said. “I think our members are looking for a leadership that will take them where we need to go. Trust is something that is built. It is not something that just happens and we all look forward to advancing the tribes needs and moving forward in a positive direction.”
