Dianne J. Pingel, 82, of Wittenberg, formerly of Tigerton, passed away early Sunday morning, March 2, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Dianne Jean Pingel was born Oct. 6, 1942, in Tigerton, daughter to the late Alfred and Mildred (Roth) Menge. She was united in marriage to Robert Roy John Pingel in Kenosha on May 29, 1965. Dianne’s main role was enjoying being a mother and raising her children.

Mary Ellen Klatt, 80, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at The Residence at Oshkosh, with her daughters by her side. For almost 20 years, Mary bravely battled Parkinson’s disease with tenacity, humor, strength and courage, even in her final days. Mary was born on Mother’s Day on May 14, 1944, in Sheboygan. She was the middle child of the late Joseph and Hildegarde (Fetterer) Kraus.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that fire management crews will begin conducting prescribed burns on DNR properties throughout the state where local conditions can provide a safe and effective burn. The recent, much-needed precipitation has created conditions that are ideal for burning in certain areas of the state. Winter burns typically begin with cattail marshes, wetlands and wet prairies.

Milk production in Wisconsin during January totaled 2.69 billion pounds, down 1% from the previous January according to the latest U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service Milk Production report. The average number of milk cows during January, at 1.27 million head, was unchanged from last month but down 5,000 from January 2024.
