The Oconto County Handicapped Citizen Association’s 2014 prom was held May 4 at Romy’s Holiday Inn with about 90 people attending. The theme was Tip Toe Through the Tulips. This year’s king was John, and queen was Jackie. Music for dancing was provided by DJ Mary. Cake and punch were served. The Oconto Falls Lioness took care of the decorations.

Those who served in the armed forces will be remembered at Memorial Day services around the area. Oconto Falls Oconto Falls Elementary School Principal Daniel Moore will speak at the 10 a.m. service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls. The Eick-Sankey American Legion Post 302 and Legion Auxiliary will conduct the service. Gillett In Gillett, a Memorial Day procession will begin at Gillett School, 208 W. Main St., at 9:45 a.m.

Susan E. (Lindow) Wussow, of Lumberton, N.J., passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at her home. She was 71. A longtime Lumberton resident, Susan was an avid sports fanatic with knitting and reading following in a close second.

Marjorie Alice (Ollmann) Melchior entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2014. Marjorie was born in Bonduel on Nov. 10, 1916, to the late Elmer and Hulda (Mayer) Ollmann. When she was 6 years old, her father bought a tavern in Gillett. She lived at home until she turned 19. Marjorie married Michael Melchior on May 29, 1937. Mike went on to join the U.S. Navy shortly after.

Helen M. Bralick, of Waukesha, and a longtime resident of Genesee, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at her home at the age of 84 years. She was born in Waukesha on Jan. 22, 1930, the daughter of David and Caroline (nee Knoebel) Williams. She was a 1949 graduate of Waukesha High School. On May 20, 1950, she married Joseph Bralick at St. James Catholic Church in Mukwonago; he preceded her in death on March 5, 2003.

Arlene A. Weyer, 85, Oconto Falls, formerly of Menomonee Falls, died Friday morning, May 16, 2014, at Community Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Menomonee Falls to Chester and Clara (Umhoefer) Keeler. Arlene grew up in the area where she graduated high school with the Class of 1947. Following graduation, she was employed at Honey Acres in both the factory and office. On Jan. 22, 1951, she married Robert “Bob” Weyer at St.

William “Bill” Montgomery, 83, Oconto Falls, died Saturday afternoon, May 17, 2014, at Community Memorial Hospital. He was born March 11, 1931, in southwestern Wisconsin to Dallas and Lucille (Sugden) Montgomery. Bill grew up in the area where he graduated from Richland Center High School with the Class of 1950. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 until 1957. On April 6, 1957, he married Louise Shaffer in Muscoda.

To the editor: On April 1, Wisconsin held its spring election. The town of Little Suamico had only one contested race. Under the direction of Nikki Tolzman, clerk/treasurer, and now Deputy Clerk Sandy Pagel, we had 10 election workers for a total of 262 votes.
