Leon J. Drath, of Gillett, 81, who loved Jesus, went to be with our Lord on Jan. 28, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 7, 1933, to the late Adolph and Leona (nee Patzer) Drath in Milwaukee. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and received a medal of Good Conduct upon his return from Germany. Leon and Lulabelle (nee Braun) were united in marriage on Feb. 10, 1962, in Gillett.

LeRoy “Charlie” Christenson, 84, of Suring (town of Breed), passed away with his family by his side on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. Charlie was born in Crandon in 1930 to the late Hilda and John Christenson. He grew up in the town of Breed, where he met his wife, Betty Piso. Charlie married Betty on Aug.

June Brien, 83, of Suring, passed away peacefully at St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015. June was born in Chicago on Aug. 1, 1931, to the late Charles and Lillian (Kebschull) Vistine. June Vistine married Donald Brien on Aug. 14, 1948, in Chicago. The couple moved in 1988 to Kelly Lake, where June loved living and especially enjoyed taking long boat rides.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting new applications for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). Farm and forest landowners may apply by Feb. 27 for possible 2015 funding. Proceedings from Jan. 30 A sentencing hearing was held for William J. Longsine, 49, Lena. He pleaded no contest to two charges of manufacturing and delivering amphetamine and possessing methamphetamine and precursors, which occurred June 25 in Lena. On the charge of manufacturing methamphetamine, he was sentenced to eight years incarceration and eight years extended supervision.
