Leon James Drath

Leon J. Drath, of Gillett, 81, who loved Jesus, went to be with our Lord on Jan. 28, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 7, 1933, to the late Adolph and Leona (nee: Patzer) Drath in Milwaukee. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, receiving a medal of Good Conduct upon his return from Germany. Leon and Lulabelle (nee: Braun) were united in marriage on Feb. 10, 1962, in Gillett.
Joan M. Wilkinson
Joan M. Wilkinson, 68, of Tigerton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at her home. The former Joan Marie Griepentrog was born in Whitcomb, town of Wittenberg, Shawano County, to Everald and Selma (Kauffman) Griepentrog. In 1964, she graduated from Tigerton High School and then started working as a secretary for Aid Association for Lutherans in Appleton. After a few years at AAL, she returned home to Tigerton.
Wilford W. Little
Wilford W. “Willie” Little, 87, of Gresham, passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, in Shawano. He was born on May 12, 1927, in the town of Red Springs, the son of the late Wilber and Edith (Quinney) Little. Willie enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a gunner’s mate on the USS Antietam, the USS Shangri-La and the USS Bairoko in World War II. Former Clintonville city administrator has new job
Former Clintonville City Administrator Lisa (Kuss) Kotter has accepted a similar position in Geneseo, Illinois. Kotter said she will move to Geneseo and begin her duties in mid-February. Geneseo, a city with a population of about 6,600, is in McHenry County. Interim City Administrator Chuck Kell, meanwhile, has completed a job description for Kotter’s successor in Clintonville.
State’s schools buy local veggies and fruit
Wisconsin’s school districts buy plenty of local fruits and vegetables for their lunchrooms, according to federal agriculture officials. A survey by the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows the districts could do better in purchasing dairy products from local farmers.
‘Oz’ production takes flight

Shawano Fire captain steps out with Sacred Heart children
A Shawano Area Fire Department captain went for a walk with more than 80 students Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Shawano. Guest Chuck Felts and members of the school’s walking club took 1,300 steps — about three-fourths of a mile — together around the school’s track during recess.
