Taylor Kohls finished what two of her Gillett Secondary School teammates started in a 62-29 rout of nonconference opponent Goodman/Pembine in girls basketball action Friday. The 5-foot-11 senior scored a career-high 20 points, but was quiet in the first quarter as senior Rebecca Wolf and freshman Taylor Yonker led the Tigers to a 16-11 lead. Oconto Falls High School wrestler Dewey Krueger remained undefeated following Saturday’s Pulaski Invitational, improving to 32-0, as the Panthers finished sixth among 16 schools. Oconto Falls won 29 of its 56 contested matches, including seven on pins, with four coming from Krueger at 152 pounds. Krueger won Oconto Falls’ only first place at the tourney.

The Finnegan Lake Walleye Club will hold its annual fishing derby Feb. 28. The club will register fish from area lakes at its derby headquarters, the heated Oconto County Fair pavilion at Zippel Park in Gillett. Prizes will be awarded for the largest northern, walleye, bass, crappie, perch and bluegill.

There is no doubt about it. I have been missing the sewing. Somehow I didn’t realize the fact until I started sewing mission quilt bottoms and tops the past week. So far I haven’t looked too long at my quilting table, nor the stash of fabric and patterns that reside on or near it, but one of these days it is bound to happen. Right now I am content to spend an hour, or perhaps two, in assembling those backs.

Judy Zeitler volunteers for Special Olympics, Delta Kappa Gamma and St. James Lutheran Church. Zeitler was raised in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School. She earned a degree in elementary education from Lakeland College and began teaching in Shawano. For nearly 20 years she taught fourth and fifth grade and also substituted at Shawano and neighboring school districts.

The barbershop quartet will provide romantic and harmonious songs to the person of your choice. “We do singing valentines all over the area,” said John Whitehouse, a member of the quartet for 13 years.
