April 10 Bay Conference Mini Meet #1 Shawano golfers tried to shake off the rust of the offseason as they carded a 197 at Crystal Spring Golf Course in Seymour. The Hawks placed fifth out of the five teams that competed. Seymour won with a 167. Blake Knope was the top golfer for Shawano, scoring a 45. Also scoring for the Hawks were Tyson Lyons with a 50, and Duane Gristeau-Blanche and Jakob Stuhr with a 51 each. Terrance Smith carded a 57.

April 10 Bonduel 11, Weyauwega-Fremont 1 Bonduel defeated Weyauwega Fremont in 11-1 in five innings in the Central Wisconsin East Conference opener. Emery Thompson threw a complete game no hitter, walking four and striking out nine.

Wisconsin farmers intend to plant 3.95 million acres of corn for all purposes in 2025 according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Prospective Plantings report. This is up 200,000 acres from 2024. Producers intend to plant 1.90 million acres of soybeans in Wisconsin this year. This is 250,000 acres lower than 2024. Farmers in Wisconsin expect to harvest 1.31 million acres of all dry hay for the 2025 crop year.

April 10 Bonduel 8, Edgar 0 Bonduel started off its season on a winning note by taking advantage of eight walks and five errors in securing an 8-0 win over Edgar at Wisconsin Rapids. Beckett Hartlaben, Mason Zuleger and Brooks Hartlaben combined for a solid performance on the mound in a shutout effort, with Hartlaben getting the win. Kody Schroeder was the big stick in the Bears lineup with three hits and two RBIs.

April 9 Brown Country Metro Meet Pulaski junior Brady Hayward earned medalist honors with a 73 to lead golfers from 11 teams at Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf. Dixon Holewinski finished in a three-way tie for sixth place with an 80. Nathan Jossie carded a 97, and Christian Weinberger had a 99 to round out the Red Raiders score of 349, which placed them fourth. De Pere won the meet with a 316. Pulaski’s Reed Gussert carded a 107.

April 8 Oconto Falls 7, Denmark 2 Wyatt Laughrin and Trace Brehmer led the Oconto Falls baseball team at the plate in its 7-2 win over Denmark. Laughrin hit 1-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Brehmer hit 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs. Carter Heroux was the winning pitcher.

April 8 Tigerton 23, Menominee Nation 8 The Tigers opened their softball season by nearly tripling the scoring of host Menominee Nation. Tigerton won 23-8. It was also Menominee Nation’s home and season opener. Shawano 14, Xavier 2 The Hawks opened Bay Conference play with a 14-2 clubbing of Xavier.

April 8 Appleton 20, Pulaski 0 (boys) Pulaski’s boys lacrosse team was shut out 20-0 at home against Appleton. The Red Raiders dropped to 0-2 on the season. Appleton 18, Pulaski 2 (girls) Pulaski connected on two of its six shots on goal but lost 18-2 to Appleton in its season opener. The Red Raiders scored goals in the first and third periods.

April 8 Shawano 3, Fox Valley Lutheran 2 After tying Hortonville in the season opener April 1, Shawano earned its first win of the season, a 3-2 decision over Fox Valley Lutheran. Winneconne 1, Pulaski 0 Pulaski lost its first game of the season, a 1-0 non-conference shutout at the hands of Winneconne.
