Shawnao County searching for new finance director

After serving four years as the finance director for Shawano County, Carrie Buntjer is stepping away from the courthouse. Buntjer will resign her post effective May 2, said Jim Davel, administrative coordinator. “She’s done an incredible job,” Davel said. “She’s an absolute superstar.

Shawano Speedway prepares for another season
Opening night for the 2025 Shawano Speedway season has been pushed back from April 12 to April 26 fue to weather conditons. The April 26 date is tentative at this time. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., and the ticket booth opens at 4 p.m.

Bonduel Farmers Market moving to Wednesdays

Safe Haven raising alerts on sexual assault
April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and it’s a crime that can be very underreported, according to Mindy Lohff, executive director for Safe Haven in Shawano. In 2024, Safe Haven’s shelter housed 58 adults and 63 children, but its outreach went much further, helping a total of 462 people with almost 7,500 services, Lohff said.
