Laura Bueschel, 68, of Wausau, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston. Laura was born in Rhinelander on Sept. 13, 1945, to the late John and Catherine (Stevens) Becraft. She enjoyed time spent with her grandkids. She taught them how to play guitar and piano. She was a lover of music, and could make a guitar pick out of a credit card. She also loved camping, card games and board games.

Angeline Cora Marquardt, 91, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Shawano Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born on Dec. 1, 1922, in Deansville, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Helena (Veith) Skalitzky. After graduating from high school, Angie worked for Wallrich Lumber. On April 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Milton Marquardt in Shawano.

Gerald James “Zeke” Jahnke, 77, of Shawano, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014, at Shawano Medical Center. Born on Dec. 2, 1936, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Kristoff and Pauline (Hoffmeier) Jahnke. Upon turning 18, Zeke enlisted with the United States Navy and proudly served his country for nearly three years during the Korean Conflict. After service, he owned an A&W stand in Montana.

To the editor: The Shawano City-County library is not just books and movies anymore. We also do a wide variety of programming. Do your children like story time and a craft? We have a program for that. Do you have an e-reader or device that you would like help with? We have a class for that. Do you like to knit? We have a weekly group for that. March is National Craft Month, and we definitely have a class for that!

To the editor: Thanks to your publication and other area media for helping bring issues involved in the coming elections in Clintonville to the attention of voters. For the first time in 10 years voters in Clintonville’s 4th District will have a choice on the ballot. I am challenging the incumbent at the urging of residents in our district.

I have been hearing reports of robins sighted and geese heading north, and some have even seen sandhill cranes. The snow seems to be disappearing, and the promise of warmer weather is on the horizon. April will sneak up before we know it, and I believe that most of us are more than ready. The old saying “March winds and April showers bring May flowers” was never more true for the winds of March.

Cap Wallrich helps the Wolf River Builders Association and is in charge of the youth exchange program for Shawano Rotary. He was born and raised in Shawano, graduating from Bonduel High School. He has been with the Wallrich Insurance Agency, which he now owns, since 1975. He and his wife, Sue, have been married 27 years and have a combined family of four children and eight grandchildren.

The members of Reaching Out About Depression and Suicide (ROADS) are planning classes for people coping with suicide. The Understanding Your Suicide Grief series is limited to the first 10 people who sign up, with classes beginning the week of April 10.
