Shawano foundation lends hand to 19 nonprofits
The Shawano Area Community Foundation has announced $41,000 in grants to 19 nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life in Shawano and the surrounding area, awarded through its annual competitive grant cycle. “These organizations are having a meaningful impact, and we are proud to support their efforts to strengthen our community.” said Todd Swedberg, board member and grants committee chair of the Shawano Area Community Foundation.
Clark Lightfoot
Clark Lester Lightfoot, 15, of Lakewood, was called to rest in the Lord’s arms on the evening of Saturday Dec. 7, 2024, as the result of a single ATV accident. Clark was born March 27, 2009, in Minocqua, son to loving parents Seth and Naomi (DeWilde) Lightfoot. Clark attended Glenbrook Elementary School in Pulaski, followed by Pulaski Middle School and high school up until his freshman year.
Guenter Woosmann
Guenter Franz Gustav Woosmann, 86, of Gillett, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, with family by his side. Guenter was born on Aug. 31, 1938, to the late Erich and Berta (Meckelburg) Woosmann in Elbing, Germany. Guenter joined the German navy at 19 years old and served for six years.
Lena boys top Bowler in overtime
Dec. 10 Bonduel 81, Kewaunee 60 Bonduel improved to 3-0 with an 81-60 win over Kewaunee. Quinn Wesenberg led Bonduel with 23 points, followed by Race Anvelink with 22 and Carter Moesch with 12. Wesenberg went 4-for-4 for free throws. Moesch had three 3-pointers. The Bears led 46-22 at halftime.
Waupaca wears down Shawano/Bonduel hockey team
Dec. 10 Waupaca 6, Shawano/Bonduel 3 The Shawano/Bonduel boys hockey team hung close to Waupaca through most of the first two periods, but a flurry of three goals at the end of the second period and in the third period sealed a 6-3 win for the Comets. The teams were close in overall shots on goal, with Waupaca having 36 and Shawano/Bonduel at 31.
