Packers beat Bears in historic romp

The Green Bay Packers dismantled the once-proud Chicago Bears in a 55-14 rout for the ages Sunday night in front of a record crowd of 78,292 at Lambeau Field. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers marched his team at will to six first-half touchdowns, while the Packers’ defense stymied Bears quarterback Jay Cutler and the Bears’ offense until the third quarter. Georgette Wilber
Georgette Bernadine (Vigue) Wilber, 71, of Keshena, danced into the arms of her loved ones in heaven on Nov. 8, 2014. She was born on Feb. 8, 1943, to George and Theadore (Lyons) Vigue. Georgette married Wilbur “Greg” Wilber on Aug. 11, 1962, and together they brought six children into the world.

Bears can’t keep pace with Amherst
Amherst put a stop to the Bonduel High School football team’s four-game winning streak and its season Friday with a 36-20 win at home in a WIAA Division 5 Level 3 playoff game. Marcella E. Brady
Marcella E. Brady, 98, of Caroline, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Shawano. The former Marcella Elizabeth Meyer was born on Dec. 19, 1915, in East Bristol to Frank and Theresa (Schafberger) Meyer. She graduated from Marion High School in 1934 and went on to Oshkosh State Teachers College, but an illness made her quickly give up the schooling. Patricia A. Banker
Patricia A. Banker, 75, of Seymour, formerly of Shawano, passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning, Oct. 31, 2014. Patricia was born on Feb. 23, 1939, in Shawano and attended the Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School in 1957. Patricia worked as a homemaker for most of her life. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Veterans Day Profile
Francis Dahse joined the Army in January 1943. A member of the 71st Infantry of the 44th Division, he was in on the front lines in France when he was severely injured on Oct. 28, 1944. “My legs were just about blown off,” said Dahse, 92, who was born and raised in Gresham, where he still lives.

Outside projects
I’m officially done helping out with the fieldwork for the year, but my husband still has fall plowing to take care off. We filled our cribs with golden cobs of corn and when the last cob got deposited up and into our crib, I literally did a little happy dance. Yay! Done! That gave me such a sense of accomplishment and also a sense of freedom.

Volunteer Profile
Sandy Staszak volunteers at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Bonduel. Born and raised in Bonduel, Staszak graduated from Bonduel High School. She worked at Aid Association for Lutherans and Northern Shoe Factory until she married Ron and they farmed. After Ron was killed in a farm accident in 1982, she continued to farm with the help of her four sons until 1997, when she moved into Bonduel.

Taking pleasure in the little things
I thought it was funny that I found so much pleasure in a calm and lazy Saturday morning last week. After running here and there and not being able to be home for a few weeks running, it was good. I guess I am finding pleasure in little things lately. I didn’t set my alarm clock because it didn’t matter when I got up.
