Marcella E. Brady, 98, of Caroline, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services in Shawano.
The former Marcella Elizabeth Meyer was born on Dec. 19, 1915, in East Bristol to Frank and Theresa (Schafberger) Meyer. She graduated from Marion High School in 1934 and went on to Oshkosh State Teachers College, but an illness made her quickly give up the schooling. Marcella was united in marriage on Dec. 7, 1935, to Milton H. Hubert. She worked side-by-side with her husband at Tiny’s Tavern in Caroline. The couple had four children. Milton died after 30 years of marriage from cancer.
In 1968, Marcella married Ray Peterman from Caroline. After only 10 years of marriage, he passed away in 1978. While married to Ray she worked at the dance hall in Caroline and she even worked a few years at Marion Plywood. Marcella also wrote a column in the Marion Advertiser for many years about all the happenings in Caroline. On May 12, 1984, she married Bernard “BJ” Brady in Marion, and the couple enjoyed 16 years together cooking, making quilts and making wooden craft projects. Mr. Brady preceded her in death in 2000.
She was very proud to be a homemaker, a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. Marcella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion, where she sang in the choir and served as a reader. She was gifted to be able to play the piano by ear as well. Marcella liked cooking and baking, especially cakes, frostings, and breads from scratch. Another favorite on her list were the trips to Florida during the winter to visit her sister. She was an avid Packers, Brewers and Braves fan, but she always cherished going to a Caroline Cougars baseball game.
