May 19 Bonduel Invitational Lena’s Mason Spice tied for medalist honors with a 75, and Bonduel won the team competition at Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil. Spice tied with Cole Haeuser of Weyauwega-Fremont. Bonduel had a team score of 344, edging out Lena with a 345. Marion was third with 351, and Menominee Nation/Gresham was sixth with 366.

The remains of a Shawano man killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, have been identified more than 80 years after his death. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced May 20 that U.S. Army Air Forces Pvt. Herbert E. McLaughlin, 31, of Shawano, was accounted for on Dec. 17, 2024. A 10-hour standoff with police in Menominee County on May 20 was resolved peacefully despite several shots fired at law enforcement.
