May 13 Algoma Invite Oconto Falls track and field competitors won several events against eight other schools in Algoma. Elijah White won the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

Pulaski crushes Sheboygan South in softball doubleheader
May 13 Pulaski 23, Sheboygan South 0 Pulaski 17, Sheboygan South 0 The Red Raiders crossed the plate 40 times in two huge wins over Sheboygan South. With the doubleheader, Pulaski improved to 10-5 in the Fox River Classic Conference and 12-9 overall. Wild Rose 15, Marion 1 Wild Rose had little trouble dispatching Marion in a 15-1 nonconference game.

Fabian Holewinski
Fabian Holewinski, 85, passed away peacefully May 13, 2025, at Aurora Baycare Medical Center in Green Bay, surrounded by his loving family. The son of Antone and Anna (Brusky) Holewinski was born in Maple Grove on Feb. 21, 1940. Fabian was a lifelong resident of Hofa Park, where he married the love of his life, Cynthia Dziubla, and they were happily married for 60 years.
Joan Delzer
Joan Ruth Delzer, 91, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025. She was born Oct. 8, 1933, to Max and Augusta (Jahnke) Brendemehl in Green Bay. She graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1952. Joan married George Delzer on Oct. 9, 1954, and together they ran a farm and homestead for the next 53 years in Town of Morgan. Joan and George raised two children, Phyllis and Paul.
Nancy L. Thomson
Nancy L. Thomson, 71, of Mountain, passed away on Tuesday May 13, 2025, in Shawano after fighting valiantly against health issues over the past few years. Nancy was born in Appleton on Dec. 21, 1953, daughter of the late Reinhart and Leova (Cavert) Kamine. On June 15, 1974, Nancy was united in marriage to Harold “Bud” Thomson in Appleton.
Nonprofits gather to find volunteers
Almost two dozen organizations from the Shawano area got together May 7 for Connections for Change to showcase what they’re all about in the hopes of finding ways to combine volunteer forces and even find some new volunteers in the process. “The goal of the event is to connect these volunteers with 22 nonprofits here,” said Uriah Williams, executive director for the Shawano County United Way.
School district breaking ground May 20
The Shawano School District plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 4 p.m. May 20 at Olga Brener Intermediate School, 1300 S. Union St., Shawano, to celebrate the start of improvements to the school, along with Hillcrest Primary School and Shawano Community Middle School. The ceremony will feature remarks from key stakeholders.
