To the editor: ThedaCare’s Dr. Gruner speaks with a forked tongue, as the city has found out when at the last minute ThedaCare said no to a medical residency training center at the old Shawano Medical Center and now is telling all those people with Network Health Plan that they will be dropped or have to pay an out-of-network extra charges. Why can Bellin and Prevea accept our plan but ThedaCare can’t?

Here we are in 2016 already. I don’t know about you, but to me, 2015 seemed to go by quickly. A new year brings with it another chapter in life waiting to be written. Speaking of writing, a book I have been working on for several years is nearing completion. It is about my experiences as a small-town mayor. I have not used names of individuals or the name of our community.

I was looking forward to, and yet dreading, the trip back to the foot doctor. I kept asking myself why I made the appointment for 9:20 a.m., because it meant I’d have to leave by 8.

Just lately I’ve been sleeping through my alarm clock in the morning. My husband looks at me when I tumble into the barn as he’s more than half done milking, wondering what’s up. I get at my chores and because I don’t have as much work as he does, and if I hurry, which I hate, I am just about done with my work in time to wash up milkers when he’s done milking. One day my daughter and I were shopping at a really nice clothing store.

Mary Martin and her dog, Maggie, are part of the ThedaCare at Home pet therapy program for hospice patients. Martin was born in Hartland in Waukesha County. She graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and became a registered nurse, getting her degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.

The Menominee Recreation Center in Keshena houses four programs for youth and families. “We all collaborate on youth programs and activities,” said Duane Waukau, director of tribal recreation. Waukau’s programs include after-school activities from 3-5 p.m. for grades 1-4, 5 -7 p.m. for grades 5-6, and 7-9 p.m.

Ione B. Kopitzke, 95, of Edgerton, died on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Janesville. She was born in Pulaski on April 18, 1920, the daughter of Richard and Bertha (Hoefs) Redlin and was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bonduel. Ione was a graduate of Appleton High School and also attended Stevens Point State Teachers College for a two-year teaching certificate. She married Melvin M. Kopitzke on Oct.

A memorial service for Sandra Lynn Hoffmann, 51, of Cedarburg, who passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2015, surrounded by her family, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at noon at St.
