Robert Jeffrey, 70, of Mountain, passed away at HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016. Robert was born in Horton, Kansas, on June 15, 1945, to the late Withro and Mary (Croxton) Jeffrey. He graduated from Willis High School in Kansas with the Class of 1963. He joined the Kansas National Guard in 1963. Robert married Ruth Ann Monhollon on Feb. 14, 1981, at her parents’ house.

James A. “Concrete Cowboy” Schuettpelz, 71, of Green Bay, left this world on Jan. 4, 2016, for his eternal horseback ride in heaven with the Lord. He was born on March 9, 1944, to Lester and Clara (Runge) Schuettpelz. Jim attended Gillett High School and graduated in 1962. He served his country in the U.S. Army from June 1965 to June 1967 with the 97th Engineering Co. D in Korea.

Richard Monahan, 54, Shawano, died suddenly of natural causes Tuesday evening, Jan. 5, 2016, while driving his semi in the Reading, Pennsylvania, area. The only child of William and Geraldine (Mize) Monahan was born Oct. 15, 1961, in Modesto, California. Richard grew up in California on a farm and at a young age starting driving semi for his father across the United States. Around 1985, he and a friend started R & R Cycles in California.

Peterson runs for Gillett School Board One newcomer is set to join the School Board in Gillett, the only school district in the area in which an incumbent is not seeking a return to office. Preston Peterson has filed as a candidate in the April 5 election, along with incumbents Jamie Young and Cliff Gerbers.

A hit-and-run on Christmas Eve that left a pedestrian with serious injures was prefaced by a road rage incident, according to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to the hit-and-run incident, the pedestrian had been in a blue Chrysler Sebring traveling north on U.S. Highway 41/141 before exiting at the County Road D exit in Abrams.
