Efforts to approve a budget for the town of Spruce came to a halt on Nov. 18 after a resident questioned the accuracy of a public notice. To the editor: I have been noticing recently that the high school community fitness center is beginning to take on the look of an athletic training facility. In addition to the current three squat racks, five new power racks and benches have been added, and one of the old bench press racks has been returned to the facility. There were enough bench press stations and squat racks before this new equipment was purchased.

There’s a kind of stupid beer commercial on TV these days that features former Dallas Cowboys head coach (and “Survivor” loser) Jimmy Johnson playing (and losing) a game of electric football to some guy named Sean. Remember electric football? Maybe it needs to be capitalized? “Electric Football.” It was a game that was played on a vibrating metal field.

With their top two scorers back from a season ago, the Oconto Falls boys basketball team has a solid base to build off.
