Vet clinic running humane society fundraiser

Northwoods Veterinary Clinic will hold a donation drive for the Oconto Area Humane Society in November and December. Individuals can purchase an animal ornament or pet toy for $5, with proceeds going to the humane society, which announced in September it might close due to a lack of funding. Thomas R. Wozniak
Thomas R. Wozniak, 68, Suring, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014. Tom was born July 14, 1946, to the late Phillip Jacob and Helen (Stix) Wozniak. Tom served his county during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. After serving his country, he was employed by Elmer Hubbard and later was self-employed as a logger for many years. Tom married Patty Isadore in 2008.

Vernice F. Bohn
Vernice F. Bohn, 95, of N2665 County Road QQ, King, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at King Veterans Home in Waupaca. Vernice was born June 19, 1920, in Pella to Emil Timm and Viola (Hoffman) Timm. She met her husband, Alvin Bohn, and they were united in marriage on Sept. 24, 1942, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2010.

Victoria ‘Vicky’ M. Harter
Victoria “Vicky” M. Harter, 63, Oconto Falls, died Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2014, at St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls. She was born March 11, 1951, in Iowa. She was raised by John and Gladys (Lueloff) Maslek in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, and graduated from Ondossagon High School with the Class of 1969. Following high school, she attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she earned a degree in animal science.

Gillett delays action on wheel tax
Gillett city officials will review revenue-generating suggestions provided by residents at a public meeting Thursday before acting on a $20 wheel tax to raise funds for street repair and maintenance. Tax levy steady for Oconto Falls
The Oconto Falls City Council, with no discussion, adopted a budget Nov. 18, resulting in no change in the tax levy for 2015. The levy will remain at $964,146.

Gillett schools due for updating
The Gillett School District is preparing to launch a $3 million building improvement project to update its aging facilities, enhance building safety and implement energy conservation measures. Residents of the school district are invited to learn about the proposed renovations at a public meeting on Dec. 4.
