The halls of Shawano Community High School looked like your standard halls of learning Friday morning. By the end of the day, they appeared ready for a party. Homecoming returns next week for Shawano, as current and former students come together to celebrate their alma mater. Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga left Thursday’s practice after injuring his left knee and his status for this weekend’s game against the Seattle Seahawks was unclear. Given Bulaga’s history, it’s hard for his teammates not to worry. Before a bounce-back season last year, Bulaga had suffered season-ending injuries in both 2012 and 2013.

The Shawano Community High School boys soccer team played the New London Bulldogs even for the first 20 minutes Thursday night. Two donors recently visited a classroom at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Shawano to see how their donation was being used. Bill Albright, who lives in Georgia, and his sister, Julie Erickson, who lives in Iowa, made a donation to Sacred Heart in honor of their parents, Dr. John and Sue Albright, who both died in 2010. John Albright practiced medicine in Shawano for over 40 years.

St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the town of Richmond is preparing for the 59th annual potato pancake dinner from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 27. The dinner includes potato and wheat pancakes along with locally produced maple syrup, apple sauce, grilled sausages, cheese, pies, coffee and milk. The Men’s Club served the pancake dinner for the first time in 1954 for members only. Grills were borrowed from other congregations in the first years.
