Eleanor Sobiesczyk, 92, of the town of Lessor, passed away on Friday morning, Dec. 11, 2015, at Forest Glen Assisted Living, Seymour. She was born on May 22, 1923, daughter of the late Stanley and Theresa (Styczynski) Jankowski. On March 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Alvin Sobiesczyk. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2004.
The couple purchased the family homestead in the town of Lessor, farmed it until they retired and still resided there. Eleanor loved her home, garden, flowers, and farm animals. She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially on holidays when all would gather for a holiday meal. She also loved to read and listen to polka and country music. She will be remembered for her kindness.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Sophie (Gerald) Mastey, Gloria (Jack) Betley, Ellen (Gary) Raymakers, Anthony (Jacky) Sobiesczyk; grandchildren, Julie, Michelle, Darin, Jeffery, Barbara, Tom, Tony, Paula, Susan, Adam, Amy, Tony, Alan and Shelby; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alvina; grandson, Daniel Raymakers; grandson-in-law, Keith Witthuhn; two brothers and one sister; and Alvin’s immediate family
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino, on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. with the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Theodore Hendricks and Deacon Don Coenen officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
