Pulaski’s boys lacrosse team won its first game ever, an 11-5 win over Wayland Academy JV on April 6. With a 1-0 lead after the first quarter, Pulaski piled on five more goals in the second to lead 6-1 at halftime. Pulaski scored another pair of goals in the third period, but Wayland Academy scored four of their own to make it 8-5 going into the final stanza.

Pulaski’s Hallie Morz placed fifth in the pole vault and was the top finisher for the Red Raiders at the Wisconsin State Indoor Track & Field Championships on April 6 at UW-Whitewater. The girls 4x400-meter relay team was 10th. The best finish for the boys was Keaton Dauk, who was 43rd in the 400-meter dash.

Oconto Falls’ Kadyn Riel tied for second with an 82 in the North Eastern Conference Mini-Meet #1 at Twin Oaks Golf Course in Denmark on April 1. The Panthers finished in sixth place with a 409. Little Chute and Wrightstown tied for first with a 357.

Pulaski’s girls soccer team went 1-1 at the Appleton East Triangular on April 6. The Red Raiders opened play with a 2-1 loss to Appleton East. Later in the day, Pulaski defeated West Bend East/West 3-1.

A committee studying consolidation of Oconto County’s six independent libraries into a single county system was scheduled to meet April 9 and consider a recommendation to that effect. The special Library Planning Committee has been meeting since last summer to work on an update of the five-year county library plan to cover 2025 through 2029.

The Gillett School Board may hear a recommendation April 18 to establish a school resource officer who would serve as a liaison among students, staff and law enforcement. Tracy Ondik, director of the Gillett Area Ambulance Service as well as an Oconto County Board supervisor, gave a presentation about the idea to the school board March 21, and Superintendent Wayne Johnson said it was anticipated as a possible action item for the April meeting. Gold medal Olympic snowboarder Nick Baumgartner is coming to Oconto Falls on April 15. Baumgartner is scheduled to give a talk and answer questions during an appearance beginning at 6 p.m. at Oconto Falls Community Library, 251 N. Main St., Oconto Falls. He also plans to read from and sign his book “Gold From Iron,” which will be available for sale for cash only.

All three cities in Oconto County will go into their annual organizational meetings on April 16 with new mayors.
