Former supper club site expected to host mini warehouses

The site of a former supper club in Birnamwood is expected to soon be the home for a mini warehousing operation. The Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee met April 3 for a public hearing on a conditional use permit for the proposed new business. Referendum for school district fails by 75 votes
The Shawano School District will not be moving forward with plans to improve existing facilities and expand some parts of Shawano Community High School after a $54.5 million referendum failed to garner enough support from voters April 2. Hoeffs beats Suprise to remain on council
UPDATED 11:10 a.m. April 3 Incumbent Alderman John Hoeffs easily won election for another term April 2 over newcomer Brian Suprise as voters took to the polls for the spring election. Hoeffs received 178 votes in the 6th Aldermanic District, more than double the 85 votes Suprise received. Hoeffs ran on his experience with the city for more than a decade, along with the strides the city has made to get new housing in the community.
