Be a voice for democracy in a time of change
“Voices of Democracy” is the American Bar Association’s theme for Law Day (May 1, 2024). This year, the theme encourages Americans to participate in the 2024 elections by deepening their understanding of the electoral process; discussing issues in honest and civil ways; turning out to vote; and, finally, helping to move the country forward after free and fair elections.
Volunteers needed to bring logging history alive
Volunteers are needed in May to help with school tours at Holt and Balcom Logging Camp Museum in Lakewood. These annual field trips provide fourth graders learning Wisconsin history with a unique hands-on visit to the oldest logging camp in America situated on its original site.

The College of Menominee Nation and UW-Madison Division of Extension’s FoodWIse program announce a partnership between the land grant universities to work collaboratively to deliver the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed) to the citizens of Menominee Nation. Roger W. Kasten
Roger W. Kasten, 83, of Shawano, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano, surrounded by his family. Roger was born on Dec. 7, 1940, in Bowler, the son of Arthur and Esther (Moede) Kasten. On Dec. 7, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Pearl Brennecke in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2018. Roger and Pearl owned and operated the family dairy farm in Bowler for many years.
Mary A. Lehman
Mary A. Lehman, 88, of the Town of Germania, passed away Sunday morning, April 21, 2024, at Evergreen Health Services in Shawano. Mary Anna Kurszewski was born July 23, 1935, in Wittenberg as the daughter of the late Felix and Frances (Plaski) Kurszewski.
