Puppy Roll to make county fair debut

The Puppy Roll spin ride will make its debut and a popular “spectacular” ride will return to the Shawano County Fair next week. Rainbow Valley Rides’ owner Chip Kedrowicz said Puppy Roll, the company’s newest ride produced by Goldstar Manufacturing, is a variation of the spin ride, where children are seated and spin around a turntable foundation. Public gets peek at park proposals
Music concerts, outdoor movies and other attractions could some day join the farmers market at Franklin Park in downtown Shawano. Sheriff plans write-in campaign
Incumbent Shawano County Sheriff Randy Wright is planning a write-in campaign in hopes of keeping his office in the November election. Wright was defeated in the Aug. 12 Republican primary race by Shawano police officer Adam Bieber. Hawks have lofty goals for cross-country season
The Shawano Community High School cross-country teams could be in for a strong season after an active offseason. Coach Steve Stomberg, though, knows not to make bold predictions. “How are we going to compare? I don’t want to put the cart in front of the horse,” he said. “This is my 17th year of coaching; you never know. Barbara L. Schneider
Barbara L. Schneider, 76, of Shawano, and formerly of Plymouth, passed away early Friday morning, Aug. 15, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, where she had been a resident for the past year. Barb was born on April 4, 1938, in Green Bay, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Neabling Krablean. Catherine Ann “Kate” Neumeier,61, entered into eternal rest in the presence of her Lord with her loving family and friends at her side on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at her home. Kate was born on Jan. 3, 1953, the daughter of Robert and Rita (Beddy) Lampman in Neenah. She was a 1971 graduate of Neenah High School.
