Pearl Charbonneau, 81, Oconto Falls, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014. She was born Oct. 19, 1932, in Lowville to John and Pearl (Walecki) Rozinski. Pearl grew up in the Rio area, where she graduated high school with the Class of 1950. In 1968, she moved her family to a farm in Spruce and was employed at Unlimited Services in Oconto for many years. Pearl was a member of St.

The Oconto Falls Friends of the Arts present Anthony Kearns, star of the Irish Tenors, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, in the Falls Area Performing Arts Center at Oconto Falls High School. Kearns is recognized around the globe for over a decade of collaborative work with the PBS group The Irish Tenors. As a classically trained tenor, he sings what audiences love to hear.

A parenting workshop will take place this fall at Abrams Elementary School. Parents and caregivers of children from 4 to 7 years old are invited to the Raising a Thinking Child workshop. Participants will learn the discipline ladder and word pairs to build a vocabulary for problem solving.

Jeff Coopman, 65, Oconto Falls, died Sunday evening, Sept. 7, 2014, at a Green Bay hospital following a short illness with cancer. He was born Sept. 14, 1948, in Oconto Falls to Donald “Coopie” and Joyce (Gunderson) Coopman. Jeff grew up in Stiles before moving with his family to Oconto Falls, where he attended eighth grade at St. Anthony School and graduated from high school with the Class of 1966.

The Oconto County Historical Society will present its fifth annual cemetery walk, If Tombstones Could Talk, at 6 p.m. Sept.

High-flying adventure and down-to-earth opportunities will be a part of the sixth annual fly-in sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Warbirds of America Badger Squadron 6. Saturday’s event will take place at the headquarters of the Badger Squadron, the Oconto-J. Douglas Bake Municipal Airport in Oconto. Airplane and helicopter rides will be available for $25 to $35.

When a local family moved into a home on Aug. 24, they found a dog the previous occupant had left behind. The family brought the dog, now named Bruce, to the Oconto Area Humane Society. The dog was scared, and its fur was matted so badly, the dog found it difficult to move. He could not see out of one eye because of his unkempt fur.

Nite at the Bistro, a semiformal event to benefit the Oconto Hospital Citizens’ Foundation and the Oconto Area Humane Society & Animal Shelter, will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Bond Community Center in Oconto.

To the editor: Oconto County Board and the new Oconto County logo! Aren’t there more important ways to spend taxpayers’ money than by changing the logo? Just because you have the authority to spend taxpayers’ money, why do you keep abusing it? I haven’t seen an actual cost, but I know designers and sign replacements, etc. cost a lot. “Oconto County A Place For You” is much more inviting than a picture of a building.
