Brianna Stehberger had eight kills. Nicole Crapo had six assists. Taylor Hoffman had eight service points. In junior varsity action, Gresham swept Oneida Nation, 25-21, 25-11, 25-17.

The Bonduel High School volleyball team went 3-1 to take second in its tournament Tuesday, falling only to undefeated Waupaca in two games. Down 17-15 in the first game against Waupaca, the Bears managed to rally to a 19-19 tie. The teams traded points until the Comets, who went 4-0 in the tournament, won 25-23. In the second game, the Bears fell behind 11-7 only to rally to a 16-16 tie.

One person was killed and 14 were injured when a car collided with a school bus shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday on state Highway 29 near Pulaski. The bus was carrying members of the Pulaski varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams back to the school from a match in Seymour. A passenger in the car, Shannon Hall, 24, of Athens, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruth L. Miller, 90, of the town of Herman, passed away on Sept. 2, 2014, in Oconto Falls. Born on Feb. 11, 1924, in Dupont, she was the daughter of the late William and Lilly (Arndt) Begrow. On Oct. 9, 1943, Ruth was united in marriage to Carl L. Miller, who preceded her in death on July 19, 1996. Ruth was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church-Hermansfort. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, ceramics, quilting, cooking and fishing.

Shawano Police Department Sept. 2 Police logged 31 incidents, including the following: Disorderly — Police responded to a disorderly conduct complaint in the 100 block of South Main Street. Suspicious — Police investigated a suspicious vehicle at Lakeland Industries, 504 Lakeland Road. Accident — Police responded to a two-vehicle property damage accident on Prospect and Ridlington streets.

The Clintonville Historical Society recently decided that if its History House was to be saved, repairs needed to be made now. Marilyn Berkvam, historical society president, said the project will cost an estimated $25,000 to $35,000. The society has already signed a $12,000 contract for a new concrete foundation for the building. Ordinary maintenance over the years could not have stopped the deterioration of its foundation, Berkvam said.

The Bonduel High School cross-country teams know this will be the last year James Watry will be their coach. Watry, who has coached the boys team to Central Wisconsin Conference titles in 2008 and 2013, as well as state team qualifiers in 2012 and 2013 since taking over in 2008, is going to step away after this year. “I told the kids that here about two weeks ago,” Watry said.
