Shawano Police Department Sept. 15 Police logged 23 incidents, including the following: Juvenile — Police responded to a juvenile problem at Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B. Suspicious — Police responded to a suspicious person complaint at Center and Cleveland streets. Warrant — A 24-year-old man was taken into custody on a Probation and Parole warrant at the New Era House, 105 E.
Name released in fatal crash
Authorities have released the name of the man killed Thursday after a sport utility vehicle and a minivan collided on state Highway 29 in the town of Seneca. Albert Voelz, 79, of Tigerton, was the driver of a minivan that was apparently attempting to cross the lanes of eastbound Highway 29 to get to Old 29 Road shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Delores M. Wasserford
Delores M. Wasserford, 85, formerly of Lyndhurst, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 16, 2014, at Maple Lane Health Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past three years. Funeral service arrangements are pending and will be announced on Thursday. Sanford K. “Butch” Hoffman, 76, Shawano, formerly of Gresham, began his Eternal journey returning to his Father in Heaven on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, after a brief but terminal illness. Elinor I. Strong
Elinor I. “Nonie” Strong, 93, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014. Born on Aug. 29, 1921, in Brillion, she is the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Lambordena (VanHolls) Richter. On Sept. 3, 1940, Elinor was united in marriage to Harry J. Strong, who preceded her in death. Elinor was president of the Clintonville VFW in 1952 and was the worthy matron twice for the Clintonville Chapter Eastern Star.
Scott L. Warren
On Sept. 14, 2014, we lost our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Scott passed away very unexpectedly while visiting family in the Madison area. Scott was born on July 29, 1986, in Washburn to Daryl Warren and Linda (Ekholm) Brend. Scott grew up and attended school in Bowler, where he excelled in sports and academics. He lettered in football, baseball and basketball.

Dennis L. Cairns, 70, of Bonduel, died at home on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, having lived a lifelong journey with Type I diabetes since childhood. Born on July 15, 1944, in River Falls, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Florence (Cornwell) Cairns. On Aug. 28, 1965, Dennis was united in marriage to Karen J. Hart in Menomonie. Dolores M. Boyum
Dolores M. Boyum (nee Wrobleski), 87, of Waterford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at The Cottages Assisted Living in Shawano on Sept. 10, 2014. Dolores was born in Greenbush, Minnesota, on Feb. 13, 1927. On March 17, 1950, she married Philip C. Boyum in Milwaukee. In her early life, Dolores worked at Globe Union and later at Sta-Rite for many years.

Most state schools meet, exceed expectations
Most Wisconsin public schools and school districts met or exceeded expectations for student achievement last school year, numbers that are comparable with 2012, data released by the state Department of Public Instruction on Tuesday showed. The information was released in the annual school report cards. This is the third year report cards have been issued for all 2,113 public and 23 independent charter schools.
