A Shawano County man is facing numerous charges of possessing child pornography and related felony counts after investigators allegedly caught him having sexual communications with a 14-year-old Arizona girl. Luke W.

After passing the local tests, Kalvin Boettcher, of Shawano, will be on his way to Orlando, Florida, this month to compete in a national driving contest at the Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort. He will be representing and sponsored by Reinhart Food Service of Shawano. The International Foodservice Distributors Association Truck Driving Championship will be held from Sept.

The village of Wittenberg continues to grow, thanks to the dedicated volunteers of the Chamber of Commerce, which serves the Wittenberg, Birnamwood, Bowler and Tigerton areas. “The chamber has grown substantially and really taken a new light in the past year for sure,” said Erika VanOrder, chamber president. “We have been very involved with the communities and hope to spread even further in the future.” The organization dates back to the 1930s.

Everywhere we go, farmers are lamenting about the weather. Some were fortunate to have had the opportunity to harvest their third crop before all of this rain. Others, like us, weren’t as well off. We’ve had to literally sneak fields of hay in between raindrops.

The Green Bay Packers will have one lineup change for their first game at Lambeau Field this season. The possibility for another one is in play. The Packers won’t know until Saturday whether injured right tackle Bryan Bulaga will be available for their home opener the next day.

Shawano officials this week approved the purchase of another property along the future Wolf River Sturgeon Trail. The trail will eventually link Sturgeon Park and Kuckuk Park.

To the editor: I actually stopped for a few minutes to admire the beautiful flowers in front of the courthouse. Someone did a fantastic job in the gorgeous arrangements or set-up. I wondered how many people noticed? Really, I appreciate the people or person who planted these for all of us to enjoy. Then as I continued my walk going north, there was a round big pot with more beautiful colors of every kind.

To the editor: On Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m., a very interesting and unique music program will be featured at the Mielke Arts Center. Vocal Tapestry is a group of singers from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. They will present a concert of choral folk music from around the world.
