Truckers, Wildcats get chippy in close game

A close score led to a lot of contact in a 1-1 draw between Gresham/Bowler and Clintonville in a nonconference high school soccer match Thursday in Clintonville. Keys to the Game: Jets at Packers
PACKERS Go Deep Against a tough Seattle Seahawks defense, it’s no surprise that the Green Bay Packers’ highly touted offense looked very pedestrian. The Packers played into the Seahawks’ plan, using Jarrett Boykin as a placeholder on cornerback Richard Sherman. That effectively took away half the field. The Packers not only need to find the other side of the field, they also need to hit some deep passes.

City, ThedaCare hire firm to market SMC property
The city, in partnership with ThedaCare, has engaged a marketing firm to find a developer for the Shawano Medical Center property, but there is still no answer from heirs to the property who would have to agree to scrap a century-old deed restriction. Waking up at daybreak
I don’t ever remember being a morning person. Many people get up early, and get the bulk of their days work done by noon, and then they tire as the day goes on. I am more of a, “is it morning already?” kind of person. Unfortunately, I usually know because the alarm is going off. It seems it doesn’t matter that I am retired; nearly every morning I get up and go somewhere. However, I should admit, I no longer sleep late anyway.

Pamela A. Polley
Pamela A. Polley, 60, of Tigerton, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Pamela Ann Polley was born on Oct. 8, 1953, in Tigerton to Edward and Ada (Omitt) Polley. In 1971, she graduated from Tigerton High School. In 1978, Pam was united in marriage to Donald Dankmeyer; the couple separated in 1997. She worked as a cook and baker at the Old Village Café in Tigerton for many years.

Carl E. Zehren
Carl “Sonny” E. Zehren, 72, of Shawano, formerly of Clintonville, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at the Shawano Medical Center. “Sonny” was born on Dec. 31, 1941, in the township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, the son of the late Aloysius and Pearl (Zellmer) Zehren. He later attended Bear Creek Schools. Sonny served three separate terms in the U.S.

Etta Mae Steinke
Etta Mae Steinke, 66, of Tigerton, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. Etta Mae Ida Steinke was born on Dec. 2, 1947, in the town of Germania, Shawano County, to Harvey and DeVera (Kriesel) Steinke. After graduating from Tigerton High School in 1965 she went on to complete beauty school. Etta Mae was employed as a beautician at Joan’s Beauty Salon, Wittenberg, for 14 years.

Albert A. Voelz Jr.
Albert A. Voelz Jr., 79, of Tigerton, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014. Born on Jan. 20, 1935, on his family dairy farm, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Amanda (Reinke) Voelz Sr. Albert graduated from Bowler High School and later went on to technical school in Wausau, where he earned his associate degree in drafting. He farmed on the home farm and also worked at Graphic Services in Wausau as a draftsman.
