Ellen M. Haute, 93, of Crivitz, formerly of Green Bay, went home to her Lord on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Rennes Health Care Center in Peshtigo. She is survived by one son, Wayne (Jean) Haut, of Hudson; one daughter, Barbara (Ervin) Paulson, of Silver Cliff; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also many friends and relatives. Shawano Police Department April 28 Police logged 32 incidents, including the following: Welfare — Police checked the welfare of a woman in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street. Accident — A minor accident was reported in the 100 block of South Main Street. Welfare — Police checked the welfare of an elderly woman reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road in the 1300 block of East Green Bay Street.

Delivering their best performance of the season, Shawano Community High School students wowed the crowd April 18 en route to winning the 48th annual University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Festival. Shawano’s jazz band played an extremely difficult three-chart program that required skill from its four segments – trumpet, saxophone, trombone and rhythm.

Ben Huber was elected president of the Clintonville Board of Education at the board’s annual reorganizational meeting Monday at the middle school. Huber, who was one of three candidates elected April 7, replaces Dirk Weber in the president’s role. Weber was elected vice president. The board re-elected Jim Dins as secretary and Clyde Tellock as treasurer; both were re-elected to the board April 7.

On May 9, the National Association of Letter Carriers, United States Postal Service, Feeding America and other partners are asking the people of Shawano to help Stamp Out Hunger. The annual food drive has grown into a national effort that provides assistance to the millions of Americans struggling to put food on the table. The Stamp Out Hunger food drive, held on the second Saturday in May, has become the nation’s largest single-day food drive.

GOLF Bonduel finishes ninth at meet Bonduel placed ninth Tuesday at a 13-team meet at Foxfire Golf Club in Waupaca. The meet was basically a practice round for the Central Wisconsin Conference meet that will be played there later this month. Marathon won the meet with a 352. Wittenberg-Birnamwood (397) had the best showing of area teams with a fifth-place finish. Menominee Indian (420) was eighth and Gresham (432) tenth.

Olga Brener Intermediate School On Friday, third-grade students at Olga Brener Intermediate School experienced a special hands-on program called “Come Walk in My Shoes.” This program is designed to have the students and staff members explore the world of individuals who in their day-to-day lives also live with physical and or developmental challenges. Students attended eight stations that simulated what it might feel like to have an impairment.
