Donald Wanner

Donald Wanner, 89, of Mountain, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, at The Memory Care Cottages in Oconto Falls.

He was born May 4, 1936, in Mountain, the son of Phillip and Alice Wanner.

Oconto Falls, Lena boys win season openers

The 2025-26 boys basketball season kicked off Nov. 25, and Oconto Falls opened its season with a 76-65 win over Menominee Nation.

Senior Brady Bursa led the Panthers with 25 points. Senior Jameson Beaman added 22, and junior J.J. Pytleski chipped in another 16.

Pytleski led his teammates with seven rebounds. Bursa and freshman Teagan Tate each had five assists, and Bursa also had four steals.

Garret Gubbels, a University of North Dakota graduate and certified flight instructor from Abrams, was named UND’s certified flight instructor of the month for October.

A certified flight instructor is a pilot who has been trained in how to teach people how to fly. Flight instructors take students up in an aircraft and do much of their teaching in the cockpit.

Sacred Heart fosters Christ-centeredness through student-led Mass

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Shawano continues its commitment to the spiritual nurturing of each student by celebrating a weekly all-school Mass led by the sixth and seventh grade classes, and their kindergarten Mass buddies.

Sacred Heart changes Sunday Mass time

Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano has announced new Mass times.

As of Nov. 30, the Sunday family Mass time will change from 10:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. The 7:30 a.m. Sunday Mass will continue at the same time.

The daily Mass schedule is as follows: 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 8:15 a.m. (all school Mass) Wednesday, 8:15 a.m. Thursday, 8:15 a.m. Friday and 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
