The Bay Area Ice Bears won their eighth game of the season on a fifth consecutive shutout with a 4-0 win over the Fond du Lac Warbirds.

Bay Area has outscored its opponents 30-0 in those five shutouts and 45-3 overall this season.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice Bears erupted for three goals in the first 3:34 of the second period.

Green Bay prepares to travel to Chicago for what will be the first of two Saturday night games in a row.

Packers’ offense vs. Bears’ defense

Chicago’s defense has struggled this season on a play-to-play basis, but they did get some reinforcements back this month.

The Green Bay Packers are walking wounded into Chicago as the Bears are coming off a game where they blew away the Cleveland Browns at home. Will that have an effect on Saturday’s showdown between the two teams? Who knows.

What we do know is that the two teams are fighting for position in the NFC playoffs, and the winner of this game should hold a big advantage in terms of winning the NFC North and securing a home playoff game.

After a litany of injuries suffered during the Packers’ game against Denver, Green Bay is in a position where it needs to rebuild its roster sooner than later, given the magnitude of the upcoming game.

Green Bay suffered a major blow to its defense as star pass rusher Micah Parsons went down with a non-contact knee injury in the Packers’ 34-26 defeat to the Broncos in Denver on Dec. 14.

Late in the third quarter of the game, Parsons was in pursuit of Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, when Nix side-stepped. This caused Parsons to plant with his left leg and go down to the ground clutching his knee.
