Bowler beats Marion in OT
Dec. 5 Bowler 63, Marion 61 (OT) It was the tale of two halves in Bowler’s 63-61 overtime win over Marion. Marion led 25-18 at halftime, but Bowler bounced back to win the second half 37-30 and send the game into overtime with a 55-55 score. In OT, Bowler finished on top 8-6 for the win. Marion was led by Braylon Mielke with 17 points and Nolan Wisnefski with 10. Mielke also led with 13 rebounds, with Sawyer Kamba nabbing 11.

SRO officer pilot advances
The City of Gillett and Gillett School District are moving closer to establishing a school resource officer (SRO) to serve in school buildings. The city’s Health, Protection and Licensing Committee was scheduled to meet Dec. 9 to make a final recommendation regarding a contract to establish a pilot SRO program for the first five months of 2025. Shawano County’s 410th barn quilt now on display
Earlier this fall, the 410th barn quilt was added to the Shawano County barn quilt trail, the largest trail of 8-foot by 8-foot barn quilts in the U. S. The 410th barn quilt, called Mariners Compass, is on display on a “barndominium” owned by Dave and Laurie Heideman at N2999 Grass Lake Road in Shawano. The Heidemans sponsored the quilt and also painted it.
Timothy P. Brusewitz
Timothy P. Brusewitz, age 61, of Shawano, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at ThedaCare in Shawano. Timothy was born on March 17, 1963, in Shawano to Daniel and Verna (Bahr) Brusewitz. He graduated from Bonduel High School with the class of 1981. Following high school, he worked at Kmart in Kimberly, Green Bay and then Shawano.
George Morris Sr.
George Morris Sr., 89, Stiles, died suddenly Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born March 14, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to George and Elsie (Valentine) Morris. As a young man, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. George lived in the Stiles area for most of his life where he was self-employed as an automobile mechanic and body man.
